Hee-Yeon Woo, a senior IT project manager at Stanford University who founded a STEM education program serving more than 850 Bay Area families, has been appointed to the NAMI San Mateo County Board of Directors.

The San Mateo-based mental health nonprofit announced the appointment on Wednesday, July 29. Woo is the third new board member NAMI San Mateo County has added in 2026, following Bill Graham and Rona Yang, who joined in April.

Who is Hee-Yeon Woo?

At Stanford, Woo works in the Office of the CIO, where she leads a major systems modernization initiative. Before that, she held senior program and quality leadership roles at Sapeon, Luma Health, Sencha and Adobe Systems. She spent six years at Sencha, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Outside her tech career, Woo built a STEM education program that introduced science and technology curricula to more than 850 families and educators across the Bay Area.

Board expansion continues

Woo's appointment is the latest addition for the nonprofit, which is headquartered at 1730 South Amphlett Blvd., Suite 308, in San Mateo. CEO Laura Parmer-Lohan and Board President Lisa Fuchs lead an organization that served more than 11,000 county residents in 2025 through free classes and support programs focused on helping people seek care, recover and avoid rehospitalization, according to RWC Pulse reporting from April.

The board also includes Dr. Jennifer Harrison, a clinical psychologist and art therapist; Yoko Ng, a certified medical interpreter; and Elyse Brummer, executive director of AgeUp, Inc., according to the organization's team page.

The nonprofit has been operating since 1974.
