San Mateo American Little League is accepting registrations for its Spring 2027 season, with the lowest fees available through Oct. 31.
The priority window, which opened Friday, Sept. 18, covers players ages 4 through 14 across eight divisions. Fees during this period range from $95 for 4-year-olds to $375 for players ages 13–14. After Oct. 31, standard rates for ages 5–14 rise by $25 to $50 per age group. The Age 4 fee stays at $95 until late registration begins Dec. 1.
A late-registration period starting Dec. 1 adds another increase across all age groups. Registration for ages 7–14 closes to new signups and moves to a waitlist on Dec. 15.
The league, led by President Jim DeMartini, is a volunteer-run nonprofit competing in District 52. Teams play at Trinta Park, Trinta South Park, Trinta North, Los Prados and Dore/Harborview Park. Divisions range from Wiffle Ball for 4-year-olds to Juniors for players 13–14.
Here are the priority registration fees by age group:
- Age 4: $95
- Ages 5–6: $170
- Ages 7–8: $275
- Ages 9–10: $335
- Ages 11–12: $350
- Ages 13–14: $375
Families registering more than one child receive a $50 sibling discount per additional player, but all children must be added in the same transaction. A $100 volunteer opt-out fee applies for families unable to help during the season. Jerseys cost roughly $35 to $40 through the team store. Hats are included.
Confidential financial aid is available for families who need help covering fees. The league said aid is funded by local sponsors and community donations and asks recipients to volunteer in roles such as coaching, scorekeeping or announcing.
All registrations are non-refundable, though credits toward a future SMLLA season are available through Dec. 31.
Players ages 8 and older must live within or attend a school inside the SMLLA boundary. Younger players, ages 4–7, may register in any Little League regardless of address. If a child ages 4–7 registers with SMLLA, older siblings ages 8 and up become eligible to play in the league and participate in All-Star tournaments. Little League "Baseball Age" is determined by a player's age as of Aug. 31, 2027, so it may differ from a child's current age.
Returning families can expect registration to take about five minutes. New families should budget about 10 minutes and will need to upload proof-of-age and residency documents.
Player assessments for ages 7–12 are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 9, 2027. Team practices begin Feb. 1, and Opening Day is set for Saturday, March 6, 2027.
