Capuchino High's volleyball team moved up to the Peninsula Athletic League (PAL) Bay Division this fall after dominating the lower Ocean Division in 2025.
The Mustangs fell to 2-3 overall after a five-set loss to Carlmont on Tuesday, Sept. 15, according to MaxPreps. Carlmont won that match 3-2. Capuchino then dropped to 2-4 overall after falling to Campolindo 2-0 in a non-league match on Saturday, Sept. 19.
The Bay Division is the stronger of the PAL's two divisions, according to the league's website. Capuchino spent years in the Ocean Division, where the San Bruno school earned multiple all-league honors in 2025. Maya Canas was named the Ocean Division's Most Valuable Player as a junior that season, according to the PAL's 2025 all-league selections. Miya Sekioka earned First Team honors as a junior, while Daniella Roberov and Mia Santos-Stevenson both made the Second Team as sophomores.
Canas and Sekioka would be seniors this fall. Roberov and Santos-Stevenson would be juniors.
The step up in competition has been steep. The PAL Bay Division has long been considered one of the Central Coast Section's strongest volleyball divisions, and the early results reflect that challenge.
