San Mateo residents who missed the Oct. 19 online voter-registration deadline can still register and vote in person for the Nov. 3 general election.
California’s conditional voter registration process allows eligible residents to register at their county elections office or an open vote center through Election Day, according to the Secretary of State.
Voters complete a registration form and receive a ballot. The county verifies their registration before counting the ballot.
Residents unsure whether they are registered can check their status at voterstatus.sos.ca.gov.
Where to register and vote
The San Mateo County Registration and Elections Division at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo is one of three vote centers already operating, according to a county announcement.
The other locations are:
- Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder’s Office, 555 County Center, Redwood City.
- South San Francisco Public Library, 901 Civic Campus Way, South San Francisco.
The Tower Road location operates on weekdays before expanding to daily service Oct. 24, according to the city’s voting information page.
Seven additional county vote centers open Oct. 24, followed by 36 on Oct. 31 and four on Nov. 2. Residents should check the county’s vote-center lookup for each location’s dates and hours.
Local ballot measures
San Mateo city voters will decide Measure H, a sales tax measure, and Measure F, a charter amendment. Voters within the San Mateo-Foster City School District will also decide Measure W, a school bond measure, according to the county election page.
The county listed an estimated 449,000 registered voters and 38,505 mail ballots received as of 5 p.m. Oct. 19. Those preliminary figures are updated daily.
Voters with questions can call or text the Elections Division at 650-312-5222 or email [email protected].
Election Day voting ends at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3.
