San Mateo County Libraries is encouraging residents to explore the works of Anne Carson, the poet and classicist who won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature.

The library system posted a spotlight on Carson's catalog Oct. 13, highlighting titles that residents can search for, borrow or place on hold through the library catalog. Ella D. in library communications wrote the feature.

The Swedish Academy awarded Carson the prize "for her bold and inventive oeuvre that, in playful dialogue with the classical tradition, has created new forms for contemporary literature."

The library described Carson's writing as shining through its modern approach to ancient storytelling, with themes that connect humanity with its history.

Residents can search Carson's available titles through the San Mateo County Libraries website at smcl.org or visit any branch to check out her work.
