Downtown San Mateo's B Street Pedestrian Mall will turn into a trick-or-treat zone on Saturday, Oct. 24, when the city hosts Boos and Brews on B Street.
The free event runs from 3 to 5 p.m. on B Street between 1st and 3rd avenues, according to the city's event page. The City of San Mateo Parks and Recreation Department and the Downtown San Mateo Association are co-hosting the afternoon.
Activities include trick-or-treating, arts and crafts, music, food and drinks, and photo opportunities. Costumes are encouraged.
The Downtown San Mateo Association arranged for downtown businesses to hand out candy during the event. The city said participating business names will be announced closer to the event date. The event, which also ran in 2025, is free.
Families looking to extend the evening can head to San Mateo Guitar Center at 53 W. Hillsdale Blvd. for a free Halloween Jam at 6 p.m. the same day, according to The Almanac. The all-ages open-mic night features Halloween-themed music and a costume contest.
