San Mateo County students ages 5 to 18 can enter RethinkWaste's first-ever Sticker Design Contest, with submissions due by 11:59 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2026.

The regional waste-reduction agency announced the contest Monday, July 13. Students in San Mateo, Belmont, Burlingame, East Palo Alto, Foster City, Hillsborough, Menlo Park, Redwood City, San Carlos, and parts of unincorporated San Mateo County are eligible.

The contest follows the agency's 2026 Trash to Art Contest, which drew 31 entries from third- through fifth-graders earlier this year. That contest's winner, Elias F. of Fiesta Gardens International School in San Mateo, was recognized at a San Mateo City Council meeting onJune 16, 2026, by Mayor Adam Loraine and Councilmember Lisa Diaz Nash.

The sticker contest broadens the eligible age range to kindergartners through high school seniors.
